WhatsApp users might soon be able to recover deleted Messages
According to WhatsApp Beta Info, the company has introduced a feature in the upcoming WhatsApp beta updates for Android that will allow users to recover their mistakenly deleted messages.
Sometimes users want to delete a message for everyone, but mistakenly delete it only for themselves. To solve this problem, WhatsApp, a subsidiary of Meta, has introduced this feature for some beta users who can get back their messages after accidentally deleting it.
If you’re a WhatsApp beta user, you’ll be happy to know that there’s now a way to undo a deleted message.
How it works
- Open the WhatsApp beta app and go to the chat where you deleted the message.
- Tap on the menu icon (three dots) in the top right corner.
- Select “Info”.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and tap on “Deleted messages”.
- Now, you’ll see a list of all the messages that have been deleted from the chat.
- To undelete a message, tap on it, and it will be restored.
Note that this feature is currently only available in the WhatsApp beta app, and it’s unclear when or if it will be rolled out to the stable version of the app.
As can be seen in the screenshot, when users try to delete a message, a snack bar will appear. So after a few seconds, you can bring back the message using the ‘Undo’ tab and if you want to delete it for everyone, you can do it.
As mentioned earlier, this feature has been released for beta users, so if you haven’t updated your beta app then update it and don’t worry if it’s not showing the snack bar even after updating. This feature will be rolled out to all users in a few weeks.
